From Your Favorite Mentor to EVERYONE
What’s Irving Serving?
Alright, beautiful people-gather ‘round. Whether you’re a fresh-faced kid, a glow-up goddess, a silver fox stepping into the spotlight, or someone who refuses to fit into any mold-this one’s for you. The modeling industry can be a fabulous, fierce, frustrating place. One minute you’re serving looks; the next, you’re wondering if you should’ve just opened a smoothie shop in Bali.
But before you toss your Zcard in the trash, let me-as your mentor—remind you exactly why you’re here and how to keep going, even when the runway gets rocky.
1. The Industry Is Evolving-And So Are You
Gone are the days when only one look, one age, or one body type got the spotlight. The industry is finally starting to wake up and realize that beauty comes in every form. So whether you’re tall, petite, curvy, lean, young, seasoned, or somewhere in between-there’s room for you. Stay ready, because the world is finally learning to love what makes you you.
2. Rejection? Please. That’s Just Redirection.
Didn’t get the gig? Didn’t get a call back? Didn’t even get a “thank you”? Boohoo for five minutes-then shake it off. They didn’t say “no” because you’re not good enough; they said “no” because they didn’t know how to use your magic. Yet. Your next big moment might be one audition away. Stay in the game.
3. Your Confidence Is Your Currency
No matter who you are-man, woman, nonbinary, young, mature, or a modeling mama-your energy walks into the room before you do. Own your space. You don’t have to be loud to be powerful. You just have to believe that you belong. And darling, if you’re showing up, you already do.
4. Practice, Prep, and Push Through
Modeling isn’t just about looking pretty in front of a lens. It’s a craft. It’s long hours, uncomfortable clothes, sudden schedule changes, and the ability to make eye contact with a camera like it owes you money. So study, pose, practice your walk, and show up like you mean it. Pros don’t wing it. They work it.
5. Find Your Cheerleaders (and Cut the Noise)
You need people in your corner who clap when you win and remind you of your glow when you feel invisible. Family, friends, mentors, your dog-whoever gets it, keep them close. And anyone who drains you, doubts you, or dims your light? Delete, unfollow, block. You’re too booked and busy for bad vibes.
6. Celebrate the Small Stuff
Booked a test shoot? Nailed a runway walk in your bedroom mirror? Finally figured out your angles? BABY, THAT’S A WIN. This journey is made up of tiny victories. Don’t wait for Vogue to clap for you-clap for yourself every step of the way.
Last Words From Your Favorite Mentor:
Modeling is not just for the chosen few. It’s for the bold, the brave, and the beautiful in every body, age, identity, and background. You belong here. The world needs more faces that reflect its true diversity, and you-YES, YOU-are part of that movement. So keep your head high, your posture straight, and your heart open.
Now go out there and SERVE, darling. The world is watching-and they better be ready.
