Top 5 Fall Fashion Trends for Guys and Dolls: A Mentor’s Perspective
As a mentor in the world of fashion & modeling, I’ve had the privilege of watching trends change over the years. Fall is one of my most favorite times of the year, with its crisp air and cozy vibes, this brings out some of the most stylish and functional pieces of the year. Whether you want to elevate your wardrobe or simply add a few standout pieces, let’s just jump into those piles of leaves and get into my top five fall fashion trends for both guys and dolls:
1. Tailored Outerwear
For both men and women, fall fashion is all about embracing sharp tailoring, especially in outerwear. Think oversized blazers for women, the 80’s power suit and sleek, long coats for men. A well-fitted or oversized trench or peacoat which is a timeless investment that keeps you warm while maintaining a polished look. But now this is oversized so you can get that bulky knit under there for great layering. This is a trend that bridges sophistication and practicality—perfect for layering over everything from casual outfits to more formal ensembles. If you’re a risk taker let that coat hit the ground literally.
2. Rich Earthy Tones
Autumn is the season of deep, warm hues. Olive greens, burnt oranges, mustard yellows, and rich browns and let’s not forget those burgundy’s and merlots as well. These are dominating the color palettes for both genders. These earthy tones are not only flattering on all skin tones but also capture the essence of the fall season. These colors are great to mix with those staples in every wardrobe. The beauty of this trend is its versatility—mix and match these colors in your clothing or accessories to create a warm, grounded look.
3. Chunky Boots
This trend is a favorite for both style and comfort, for both sexes Chunky boots, whether they’re combat boots for women or rugged Chelsea boots for men. These are all the rage this fall. They will add an edge to any outfit while providing much-needed support and warmth as temperatures drop. So pair them with that baggier jean as well as the bulky knit. These boots are statement makers as well as a great way to tackle the elements. Whether paired with dresses, skirts, or skinny jeans, these boots instantly add a cool factor and are perfect for transitioning from day to night.
4. Layered Knitwear
My favorite thing in the whole wide world is sweaters, cardigans, and turtlenecks. These are essential this time of year. The key this fall is layering different types of knitwear for both comfort and style, ie. twinsets. A chunky sweater over a fitted turtleneck or a cardigan thrown over a casual tee can create a sophisticated yet cozy vibe. For men, textured knits and shawl collars are popular, while women can experiment with oversized sweaters and knit dresses for a relaxed yet chic look.
5. Sustainable Fabrics
Sustainability is no longer a trend—it’s a movement. As awareness about eco-friendly fashion grows, designers are focusing on using sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, recycled wool, and innovative textiles made from plant-based fibers. For both men and women, embracing these materials not only supports a better planet but also offers a unique, modern aesthetic. Whether it’s a jacket made from recycled materials or ethically sourced wool scarves, incorporating sustainability into your wardrobe is a trend I fully support.
In Closing
As we embrace the fall season, remember that fashion should be both an expression of your personality and a reflection of practicality. These top trends for both men and women will keep you looking sharp, comfortable, and connected to the season’s spirit.
